In 2023, Sinopec anchored its carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, strengthened the top-level design of integrating wind and solar business with its main business, and included wind and solar projects in the list of national wind and solar bases for the first time. The 600 MW photovoltaic project in Kendong, Dongying City, Shengli Oilfield, and the 1000 MW "source grid load hydrogen storage" integrated project in Kuche, Xinjiang were included in the third batch of national wind and solar bases. Exquisite layout, turning idle land resources into a source of efficiency

In 2023, while consolidating its main oil and gas business, Sinopec seized the opportunity to cultivate the new energy industry, clearly positioning new energy as an important strategic emerging industry, deepening the structural reform of the energy supply side, vigorously developing new energy such as wind and solar power, and focusing on building an energy supply and consumption system that integrates traditional energy and new energy sources.

Well stations, well sites, factory areas, oil depots, gas stations, and idle inefficient land have become favorable conditions for enterprises to pursue excellence. Each enterprise strengthens its investigation and transformation of idle land from a cost burden in the past to a source of efficiency, fully promoting the construction of wind and solar power projects, and conducting centralized and large-scale development in areas with local conditions.

In terms of "station+photovoltaic", Shengli Oilfield has revitalized 700 acres of idle land in the ash field of the power plant to build a 37 MW photovoltaic power station; Jianghan Oilfield has collaborated with professional companies to activate over 1800 acres of idle land to build 46 photovoltaic power stations, with an installed capacity exceeding 100 megawatts and an annual photovoltaic power generation exceeding 90 million kilowatt hours.

In terms of "well site+wind power+photovoltaic", Jiangsu Oilfield utilizes the vacant land of well sites and stations to build 159 distributed photovoltaic power stations, activate more than 500 acres of land resources, and have a new energy generation capacity of 130 million kilowatt hours per year. The proportion of self use green electricity is nearly 1/4.

In terms of "gas stations+photovoltaics", sales enterprises fully utilize the open space of gas stations to build photovoltaic power generation projects and actively create carbon neutral gas stations. Among them, the photovoltaic coverage rate of Hainan Petroleum Energy Station reached 66.1%; The Jiangsu Nanjing Petroleum Zhonghe Road Energy Station has built the first waste free energy station in Nanjing by constructing photovoltaic charging facilities and other facilities.

Each enterprise also starts from "leftover" sites such as factory areas, roofs, water surfaces, ponds, etc., and plans uniformly, concentrates and implements them step by step, creating a "photovoltaic+environmental governance" power generation model. In terms of "factory+roof+photovoltaic", companies such as Shanghai Petrochemical, Jiujiang Petrochemical, Maoming Petrochemical, and Yizheng Chemical Fiber fully utilize resources such as factory areas, factories, and parking lots to build photovoltaic power generation projects. On August 31, 2023, the 24.5 MW distributed photovoltaic power generation project in Maoming Petrochemical Port Zone 1 was fully connected to the grid for power generation. This project utilizes 273.5 acres of idle land in the factory area, generating over 29 million kilowatt hours of green electricity annually.

In terms of "water surface+photovoltaic", Shanghai Petrochemical utilizes the water surface of the Nansuitang River to build a photovoltaic power station with an installed capacity of 5.84 MW, forming a green development industrial demonstration belt for viewing. Jiangsu Oilfield fully utilizes the water surface, field ridges, and idle land resources of Yong'an Farm's fish ponds to build a 3.7 MW photovoltaic power station, forming a "complementary fishing and lighting" model.

New Star Company fully leverages the advantages of new energy professional technology, focusing on the goal of "replacing existing capacity with green electricity and building new capacity with green electricity supporting facilities", strengthens cooperation with various enterprises, fully utilizes their own land, roof, water surface and other resources, and explores wind and photovoltaic development and utilization projects in different scenarios.

Featured applications to promote deep integration of oil and gas production with new energy

In 2023, Sinopec's oil and gas enterprises will seize the opportunity of green transformation, actively promote the deep integration of oil and gas exploration and development with new energy, coordinate the deployment of new energy, shale oil development, CCUS, gas storage construction and other projects, and comprehensively use source network load storage and multi energy complementary technologies to promote the construction of integrated innovation demonstration zones, and actively create "new energy+" comprehensive application characteristic scenarios.

In the exploration and development of shale oil in the Niuye area of Shengli Oilfield, production energy is achieved through "photovoltaic+grid power". The photovoltaic station of Shengli Power Plant generates green electricity directly for shale oil drilling rigs, with green electricity accounting for over 50%.

Jiangsu Oilfield has collaborated in the wind and photovoltaic businesses in the Jiangdu Oil Region, and is supporting the Caozhuang energy storage system to establish a high proportion green energy substitution demonstration zone with "green power as the main source, multiple energy complements, and source load balance". The proportion of green energy in the region exceeds 50%.

The CCUS peak shaving center of East China Petroleum Bureau will construct a photovoltaic power station to provide green lighting electricity for the peak shaving center; Jiangsu Oilfield Union 38CCUS Demonstration Zone is constructing a photovoltaic project at the well site, becoming one of the first carbon neutrality demonstration sites of Sinopec; The 13.39 MW distributed photovoltaic power generation project of Jianghan Oilfield Salt Chemical Plant has been successfully connected to the grid, promoting the "new energy+salt brine chemical" all green production mode and further enhancing industrial competitiveness.

"Wind power+" and "photovoltaic+" have become beautiful landscapes for the green development of various enterprises.

Fine operation and maintenance, successfully paving a new path for improving quality and efficiency

In order to improve the efficiency of new energy development, various enterprises have fully utilized information technology and intelligent technology, effectively solving development challenges such as new energy consumption and peak shaving. Through the dual wheel drive model of "industrial scale development" and "project refined operation and maintenance", they have successfully carved out a new path to improve quality and efficiency.

In terms of the full chain operation of green power, Shengli Oilfield has taken the lead in creating the first large-scale "source network load storage" integrated smart energy system with independent intellectual property rights in the domestic oil and gas field. Through the interactive operation of "source network load storage", it drives the optimization of the entire energy system resources, and the power and grid sides can flexibly allocate according to the needs of users.

In terms of power facility management, the Zhejiang Petrochemical 220 kV substation within the Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Plant is the first unmanned high-voltage substation of Sinopec to benchmark the power system. By laying photovoltaic systems in suitable areas of the substation, zero carbon operation has been achieved.

In terms of green power operation and maintenance, the ash field photovoltaic project of Shengli Oilfield Power Plant adopts 198 self generating intelligent cleaning robots for maintenance, which not only meets the cleaning needs of large-scale photovoltaic panels, but also can adjust the cleaning process and progress according to user needs, ensuring that photovoltaic panels can be cleaned in a timely manner and improving power generation efficiency.

Faced with the mandatory question of "integrated development", various enterprises of Sinopec gave a brilliant answer sheet on the "carbon road pioneer, chasing the wind and light".

◤The construction and operation of a single maximum capacity photovoltaic power station in Jiangsu Oilfield

On January 8th, the largest single capacity photovoltaic power station in Jiangsu Oilfield - Jinbei Old Oil Pipe Plant Photovoltaic Power Station - was completed and put into operation, with a total installed capacity of 2.3 megawatts and an annual power generation of 2.9 million kilowatt hours.

◤ The largest photovoltaic project of Sinopec's sales enterprise is connected to the grid to generate electricity in watt hours.

On February 27th, Sinopec's largest photovoltaic power generation project, the 12.1 MW photovoltaic power generation project at the South China North Sea Oil Depot, was successfully connected to the grid for one-time power generation, with an annual power generation capacity of 14 million kilowatt hours.

◤ Grid connected power generation of the largest floating photovoltaic project in Jianghan Oilfield

On April 1st, the largest floating photovoltaic project in Jianghan Oilfield, the 2.81 MW floating photovoltaic power generation project, built using domestic water storage tanks, was connected to the grid for power generation, exploring a new path for efficient utilization of renewable energy.

◤ Shanghai Petrochemical's first megawatt level photovoltaic power station connected to the grid for power generation

On April 10th, Shanghai Petrochemical's first megawatt level photovoltaic power station was connected to the grid for power generation, with an annual power generation capacity of 1.41 million kilowatt hours. The power station is built at the Huanjiang Road warehouse of Shanghai Petrochemical, making full use of the warehouse roof to build a photovoltaic power station with a total installed capacity of 1.53 MW.

◤ The first open ground megawatt level green power project for oil depots in central China has been put into operation

On June 28th, the photovoltaic power plant of Jiujiang Oil Depot in central China was sold and connected to the grid for power generation. This is the first megawatt level green power project in the central China region, with an installed capacity of 2.488 megawatts and an annual power generation of 2.48 million kilowatt hours. All generated electricity is connected to the Jiujiang Petrochemical power system.

◤ Sinopec's grid connected power generation in the largest single photovoltaic project in the Yangtze River Delta

On August 1st, Sinopec connected the largest photovoltaic project in the Yangtze River Delta, a 25 MW photovoltaic power generation project jointly constructed by Nova Solar and Yangtze Petrochemical, to the grid for power generation. This project utilizes 386 acres of idle land by the riverbank for construction, and all the green electricity and carbon reduction indicators generated are used by Yangtze Petrochemical.

◤Jiangsu Oilfield Built 11 Wind Turbines

On October 1st, with the grid connection of the Cui 6-8 wind turbines in the Cuizhuang oil area of Jiangsu Oilfield, a total of 11 wind turbines were built in Jiangsu Oilfield, with a cumulative installed capacity of 37 megawatts and an annual power generation capacity of 90 million kilowatt hours.

◤The first "air energy+solar thermal" project in Shengli Oilfield has been put into operation

On October 12th, the first "air energy+solar thermal" multi energy complementary project of Shengli Oilfield was put into operation at the Caoguyi Transfer Station of Xianhe Oil Production Plant. After the project is put into operation, it can completely replace the purchased natural gas from the transfer station, and is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1605 tons annually.

◤ The largest photovoltaic power station in Henan Oilfield has been put into operation

The largest photovoltaic power station in Henan Oilfield was put into operation on October 31st, and the largest self built photovoltaic power station in Henan Oilfield was put into operation. This project fully utilizes the original driving school site of Henan Oilfield Training Center for photovoltaic construction, with an installed capacity of 2.1 megawatts and an annual power generation capacity of 2.3 million kilowatt hours.

◤The first mobile photovoltaic power station in Zhongyuan Oilfield has been put into operation

On November 19th, the first mobile photovoltaic power station in Zhongyuan Oilfield was put into operation. The installed capacity of the power station is 43.6 kilowatts, and it adopts a modular combination design, which facilitates well site operations and power station relocation, and can meet the requirements of equipment being used on the go.

◤ Progress made in the largest scale photovoltaic project of Sinopec's refining and chemical enterprises

On November 30th, some photovoltaic power generation projects on the roof of the Yizheng Chemical Fiber Factory were completed and connected to the grid for power generation, marking progress in the largest photovoltaic project installed by Sinopec's refining and chemical enterprises. The project includes two parts: the roof of the Yizheng Chemical Fiber Factory and the photovoltaic power generation of the parking lot, with a total installed capacity of 25.8 megawatts. It is jointly constructed by Xinxing Company and Yizheng Chemical Fiber. After the project is fully put into operation, it is expected to generate 26 million kilowatt hours of green electricity and save 8300 tons of standard coal annually.

◤ Grid connected power generation of the largest photovoltaic project in Northwest Oilfield

On December 10th, the largest photovoltaic project in Northwest Oilfield - Tahe Oilfield Environmental Protection Station and Liquefied Gas Plant Photovoltaic Power Generation Project - was connected to the grid for power generation. The project has an installed capacity of 11.16 megawatts and an annual power generation of 16 million kilowatt hours.

In May 2021, Yinger Well District completed the first "wind solar thermal storage" distributed photovoltaic power generation new energy construction demonstration base in Shengli Oilfield, becoming the first carbon neutrality demonstration zone in Shengli Oilfield. In 2023, the demonstration zone generated 4.64 million kilowatt hours of electricity and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 4825 tons.

Innovative measures:

The project includes four parts: wind power generation, solar power generation, solar heat+energy storage replacing gas heating furnaces, and DC bus multi-source microgrids. It is the first demonstration site of Shengli Oilfield that integrates four types of new energy technologies: wind, light, heat, and storage.

Demonstration significance:

Assist oil fields in accelerating the development and utilization of new energy, revitalizing land resources, and promoting the transformation and upgrading of energy structure.

●Wind power generation demonstration zone

Jiangsu Oilfield Xiaoji Wind Power Demonstration Zone

Introduction to the situation:

Jiangsu Oilfield has independently built four wind turbines with an installed capacity of 12.5 megawatts in the Xiaoji Wind Power Demonstration Zone. Among them, the Ji 1 wind turbine is the first wind turbine in Sinopec's onshore oil field. In 2023, the demonstration zone generated a total of 29.13 million kilowatt hours of electricity, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 16000 tons.

Innovative measures:

We have cultivated the ability to implement the entire process of wind power construction from various aspects such as construction planning, engineering design, project construction, and operation and maintenance management, promoting cost reduction and efficiency increase in new energy construction.

Demonstration significance:

Not only has it reduced the production cost of oil and gas in old oilfields, optimized energy structure, and reduced carbon emissions, but it has also cultivated new industries and become a new economic growth point for high-quality development of old oilfields.

●"Waste heat+green electricity" carbon neutrality demonstration site

Introduction to the situation:

Wangchang Joint Station is the largest joint station of Jianghan Oil Production Plant. In 2023, the station will establish the first "waste heat+green electricity" carbon neutrality demonstration site in Jianghan Oilfield in accordance with the principle of simultaneous deployment, design, and construction of new energy and oil and gas engineering projects in the improvement and efficiency renovation project.

Innovative measures:

Adopting the "waste heat+photovoltaic" model, while two sets of compressed heat pump units are put into operation to achieve waste heat utilization, photovoltaic projects are constructed to supply green electricity and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 5300 tons.

Demonstration significance:

By building a number of carbon neutrality demonstration stations, gradually reducing the utilization of associated gas, reducing production energy consumption, and bringing more green benefits to enterprises.

●Carbon neutral gas storage facility

Northeast Oil and Gas Gujiazi Gas Storage

Introduction to the situation:

The Gujiazi gas storage facility was completed and put into use in 2021. It is the first gas storage facility built by Sinopec in the Northeast Work Area and also the first carbon neutral gas storage facility in the upstream sector of Sinopec. In 2023, the green electricity substitution rate will be nearly 43%, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 785 tons。

Innovative measures:

Fully utilize distributed photovoltaic and wind power generation to provide clean energy for gas storage facilities. The injection and extraction well site adopts the "wind solar complementary+energy storage" method to achieve the replacement of grid electricity with new energy.

Demonstration significance:

Exploring a new path for green and low-carbon operation of gas storage facilities in high-altitude and cold regions is conducive to gradually promoting the construction of carbon neutrality stations, creating green oil and gas fields, and assisting in the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China.

●Super charging and swapping comprehensive energy station

Anhui Petroleum Volkswagen Comprehensive Energy Station

Introduction to the situation:

The Volkswagen Integrated Energy Station integrates functions such as refueling, charging, battery swapping, photovoltaic, and energy storage. It was put into operation in November 2023 and is the first super charging and battery swapping integrated energy station of Sinopec.

Innovative measures:

Innovatively integrating cutting-edge technologies such as photovoltaics and energy storage, and through an integrated intelligent management system of "light, storage, charging, and discharging", the charging shed has been transformed into a photovoltaic power station with a total installed capacity of 200 kilowatts and an annual power generation of approximately 220000 kilowatt hours.

Demonstration significance:

This is the latest practice of Sinopec in building a world-class modern comprehensive energy service provider, which will effectively promote China to accelerate the construction of a high-quality charging infrastructure system and help achieve the "dual carbon" goal.
